Physical Therapy for Back Pain in Midtown Manhattan: Prepare for an Assessment
Wongs Acupuncture and Angel Alliance Physical Therapy ·
Start with the activity you want to discuss
If back discomfort makes sitting at work, walking to the train or lifting everyday items difficult, note the activity and what happens during it. A physical therapy appointment is an opportunity to discuss those limitations and your goals; it does not start with a promised result or a fixed number of visits.
What an assessment can include
The American Physical Therapy Association’s patient guide describes a review of health history, symptoms and movement, including how you use your body in everyday activities. Your therapist decides which parts of the evaluation are relevant and whether another medical assessment is needed.
What to bring and ask
Bring existing reports and relevant care instructions, a list of medicines, and a short description of the activities that matter to you. Ask how your starting ability will be recorded, how progress will be reviewed and what follow-up is appropriate. Do not stop prescribed treatment or replace individual medical advice with an online guide.
Plan your Midtown visit
Angel Alliance Physical Therapy’s Manhattan office is at 425 Fifth Avenue, Office Unit 4th Floor, New York, NY 10016. Dr. Congrong Zhang provides PT here. Call (212) 385-8999 to confirm the service, provider, time, insurance requirements and expected personal cost. Use the office directions before travelling from Bryant Park or Murray Hill.
When ordinary online booking is not appropriate
The APTA guide advises urgent assessment for low back pain accompanied by loss of bowel or bladder control or numbness in the groin or inner thigh. Do not wait for a routine appointment in that situation.
Choose the office you intend to visit
Forest Hills and Great Neck have separate PT providers and appointment locations. Use the corresponding clinic page when arranging care. Acupuncture and PT are distinct appointments; a combined care question should be discussed with the team.
